Who is responsible

The Fresh Brain Company Ltd is the data controller for andrewtaustin.com. This notice covers this biographical website and enquiries sent to the privacy contact below.

For privacy enquiries or to exercise your rights, email freshnewbrain@gmail.com.

Information collected when you browse

Our hosting and website delivery services process technical information such as your IP address, requested pages, access times, browser information and error or security events. This information helps deliver the website, investigate faults and protect it against misuse.

The site is hosted through Cybermonkey and uses Stack/20i hosting and content delivery infrastructure. Our lawful basis for necessary operational and security processing is our legitimate interest in providing a reliable, secure website.

If you email or message us

We receive your email address or WhatsApp phone number, name or profile details if supplied, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use these to respond and deal with your request. Please avoid sending sensitive personal or health information unless it is necessary.

Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in handling correspondence. Where your enquiry concerns entering into a contract, we may also process information to take steps at your request before that contract. Legal obligations may require us to retain particular records.

Cookies and Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 through Google Site Kit to understand which pages people visit, how they find the site and which links and content they use. Analytics is optional. Its script is blocked until you choose to accept analytics cookies. Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from using the website. Our lawful basis for this analytics processing is your consent.

When you consent, Google may receive page addresses and titles, referring websites, visit times, device and browser information, approximate location and interactions such as scrolling, outbound link clicks and file downloads. Cookie identifiers help distinguish visits and sessions. We do not ask you to provide your name or email address for analytics. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store individual IP addresses. Logged-in website users are excluded from Analytics.

You can use “Accept analytics”, “Reject analytics” or “View preferences” in the banner. To change or withdraw your choice, use Cookie settings below or the cookie settings control on the site. Withdrawal stops future analytics collection; it does not undo processing that took place before withdrawal. You can also delete existing cookies through your browser settings.

Cookies used

Essential consent cookies: Complianz uses cookies prefixed cmplz_, such as cmplz_functional, cmplz_statistics, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_marketing, cmplz_policy_id and cmplz_banner-status, to remember your choices and the version of the notice. These are kept for up to 365 days. A cookie recording a marketing preference does not mean we use advertising trackers.

Optional analytics cookies: Google Analytics uses _ga to distinguish visitors and _ga_52DKSTW2TN to maintain session information. Their default lifetime is up to two years and may be refreshed on subsequent visits with consent. Browser restrictions or deleting cookies can shorten this period. See Google’s explanation of Analytics cookies.

WordPress administration: login and administration functions use essential authentication and settings cookies if you sign in. Blocking those cookies can prevent login. The public website does not offer visitor registration, comments or newsletter signup forms, and we have not enabled advertising pixels.

Google services

Google processes analytics information to provide reports about website use. The Analytics account also allows aggregated, de-identified measurement data to contribute to modelling and business insights. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s Privacy Policy. Analytics information may be processed outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States, under Google’s applicable data protection and international transfer terms.

We also use Google Search Console for search performance and indexing reports, and PageSpeed Insights for performance diagnostics. These dashboard services are separate from the optional Google Analytics tracking described above.

Service providers and external links

Hosting, security, content delivery, analytics and email providers may process information as needed to provide their services. Enquiries sent to the Gmail address are handled through Google’s email service. If you choose WhatsApp, your message is handled through WhatsApp; its privacy terms also apply to your use of that service. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Links to books, programmes, training, articles and other projects take you to separate websites, including Amazon and course providers. Their privacy notices apply when you visit them or make a purchase. Book purchases and course bookings are not processed on this website.

Where information is processed

The website’s origin hosting is in the United Kingdom. Content delivery, analytics and email services may process information in other countries. The providers’ applicable data protection terms describe their processing locations and international transfer arrangements. You can contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your enquiry.

How long information is kept

We keep correspondence for as long as needed to answer the enquiry, handle follow-up matters and meet any applicable legal or dispute-related requirements. The appropriate period depends on the subject and whether the correspondence forms part of a business or legal record. Hosting logs and backups follow the hosting provider’s retention and rotation arrangements. Contact us if you need the retention information applicable to particular data.

In Google Analytics, event-level data retention is set to two months and user-level data retention to 14 months. The user retention period resets when a visitor returns with new activity. These settings do not apply to most standard aggregated reports. Cookie lifetimes are listed separately above.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access to your personal information, correction, erasure, restriction of processing or a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing. These rights have conditions and exceptions.

Email freshnewbrain@gmail.com to make a request. We may need enough information to verify your identity and locate the relevant records. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes to this notice

We will update this page if the website’s services or the way personal information is handled changes.
